Allegation
The EFCC accused Turaki of corruption and money laundering involving Jigawa State funds and arrested him in July 2007, opening a 32-count case.
Outcome / Status
He was arraigned on 13 July 2007 on a 32-count charge of laundering about ₦36 billion of Jigawa State funds; in 2011 the case was moved to Dutse after he challenged the Abuja court's jurisdiction. On 13 October 2022 Justice Hassan Dikko of the Federal High Court, Dutse, struck out the charges for want of diligent prosecution, the EFCC's prosecutor being absent. This was not an acquittal: the EFCC says it may proceed with the case when it is ready.
Administration's response
A fifteen-year prosecution collapsed without a substantive ruling — an extreme example of the delay that undermined the era's governor cases.
