Allegation
The EFCC alleged that Timipre Sylva and three co-defendants used three companies to move about ₦19.2 billion out of Bayelsa State between 2009 and 2012, under a false pretence of augmenting civil servants' salaries.
Outcome / Status
On 10 June 2015 the Federal High Court, Abuja, dismissed the charges as an abuse of process, because they rested on the same transactions as ₦2.45 billion charges the EFCC had withdrawn after the court had reserved ruling on Sylva's preliminary objection; ICIR reported that this ended all pending EFCC cases against him. The EFCC refiled, and in November 2015 Justice Adeniyi Ademola dismissed a 50-count charge as an abuse of process, noting that the charges and witnesses were the same as those struck out twice before, on 1 and 10 June. No trial on the merits took place.
