Operation Flush against the 2009 Boko Haram uprising
Partial
The directive
Established Operation Flush, a combined Army, Police and other security-agency operation to contain the four-day armed uprising by Boko Haram in Maiduguri and other northeastern towns between 26 and 29 July 2009.
Real-world effect
The immediate 2009 uprising was put down and the sect's founder Mohammed Yusuf was killed in custody, but the underlying insurgency did not end — it regrouped and grew into the sustained, years-long conflict that followed, extending well beyond the end of Sheriff's own tenure in 2011.
