Peter Odili v. EFCC — injunction against investigation
Govt Won
What the case is about
Whether the EFCC could investigate and prosecute Odili over the handling of Rivers State finances during his 1999–2007 governorship.
Ruling & compliance
A Port Harcourt court held in March 2008 that the EFCC could not investigate state finances, and a Federal High Court in Abuja granted an interim injunction in September 2009 restraining the EFCC from arresting, detaining, prosecuting or embarrassing Odili. The orders effectively ended the case; they were still in place years later.
