Served as Deputy Governor from 2019 until the State Assembly impeached him on 23 February 2022 for alleged gross misconduct, after he refused to join Matawalle's defection from the PDP to the APC. A Federal High Court later annulled the impeachment as a breach of a subsisting court order, but he did not return to office; Hassan Nasiha was installed as his replacement.
