An engineer and former NNPC executive, Kure had a strong infrastructure reputation — road, water and school programmes, and the establishment of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University at Lapai (academic activities from 2005/2006), Niger's first state university — and left office without a corruption case, later chairing FERMA.
