Assessment
Jonathan served as Governor of Bayelsa State from 9 December 2005 to 29 May 2007 — about 17 months — providing a low-key, stabilising administration after the turmoil of his predecessor's arrest, flight and impeachment. He then left to run as Umaru Yar'Adua's vice-presidential candidate.
