Served as Commissioner for Finance under Akpabio; the Federal High Court in Uyo convicted and sentenced him to 42 years in prison in December 2022 over bribes of 12 vehicles worth ₦254 million from a contractor awarded a ₦3 billion state contract while he chaired the Inter-Ministerial Direct Labour Coordinating Committee, a conviction the Court of Appeal upheld and the Supreme Court affirmed (as a 7-year sentence with ₦204 million restitution) in February 2026.
