Allegation
The EFCC alleged that Adamu embezzled about US$100 million of Nasarawa State money meant for public projects during his 1999–2007 governorship, and arrested him in February 2010.
Outcome / Status
Arraigned in 2010 with twelve others over N15 billion of Nasarawa State funds, Adamu failed in a bid for acquittal when the court held he had a case to answer. On 28 June 2016 Justice A.A. Okeke of the Federal High Court, Lafia, discharged the case after the EFCC's counsel applied to withdraw the charge. The discharge was not an acquittal: the charge was withdrawn before any plea of acquittal, so the EFCC retained the ability to refile. No refiled charge was found.
